Tec 45 and Tec 45 Trimix

Tec 45 Diver Course

The Tec 45 Diver course picks up where Tec 40 Diver leaves off and takes your training as a tec diver further and deeper. Explore new dive sites, stay longer and improve your dive skills!

Who should take this course?

The Tec 45 & Tec 45 Trimix Diver course takes your technical diving to the next level, training you to spend even more time underwater. You will be fully equipped to plan and execute staged decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45m, using any Nitrox mix from 21% up to 100% oxygen to add conservatism or to accelerate your decompression obligation. Tec 45 Trimix Divers can also use up to 35% helium to improve gas density and reduce narcosis when diving. There is no time limit associated with the decompression you plan, meaning you can complete as much decompression as you wish, within the dive planning limits you establish during your course.

What will you learn?

Your Tec 45 & Tec 45 Trimix training consists of knowledge development using the PADI Tec 45 eLearning, four practical application sessions and four open water dives. Building on what you learned in the Tec 40 course, you will focus on additional techniques, procedures, and emergency skills. You will learn more advanced decompression, gas planning, decompression models, and fine-tune your thinking like a technical diver. Tec 45 Trimix students will also learn about diving trimix.

Through four dives, you will build your confidence with deeper dives, and increase your comfort during longer decompression times, using rich nitrox mixes to accelerate decompression.

Where is the course held?

We can use inland dive sites, dives in the sea or a mix of both to complete the Tec 45 & Tec 45 Trimix Diver course. Local inland sites offer easy entry and training locations for the skills portion of the course. Locations such as Portland, Lyme Regis and Plymouth have excellent sites for you to take your final course dives on exciting local wrecks. If you fancy somewhere warmer why not enquire about taking your course on the wrecks around Malta & Gozo? We are happy to travel to you for the course, so please get in touch to discuss your options.

What scuba kit will you use?

A modified recreational set up isn’t suitable for the demands of a Tec 45 & Tec 45 Trimix Diver course. For the Tec 45 & Tec 45 Trimix Diver course you will need a full twinset configuration, with a single deco cylinder and other redundant equipment associated with deco diving. A dry suit is essential if you’re planning on taking the course here in the UK.
