The RNLI Diver Sea Survival Specialty Course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to deal with unexpected emergency situations whilst diving. You will also learn how to initiate a faster and more effective rescue. Mastering sea survival skills will give you additional confidence if you find yourself in an unwanted situation whilst diving.

The Fun Part

As with all rescue related courses, this programme is challenging, rewarding and fun! Push yourself and your course mates to become safer divers, able to avoid problems before they occur and be better prepared to deal with issues that do arise.

What You Learn

The course will include 2 dives and covers:

  • Dive planning and preparation
  • Navigation and safety kit
  • Low-vis conditions
  • Out of air emergencies
  • SMB's and making yourself visible on the surface
  • Emergencies on the surface

The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all your basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and use accessories such as surface marker buoys and lights.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the RNLI Sea Survival Diver, you must be:

  • 12 years or older
  • Hold an Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organisation)

Your Next Adventure

After completing the RNLI Diver Sea Survival Course, you should take the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider course. Together, these two courses round out your ability to handle scuba diver emergencies. You are also heading towards the Master Scuba Diver rating, as both of these specialites contribute to the five needed to become a Master Scuba Diver!
