Enriched Air Diver

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no stop time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an Enriched Air Diver.

The Fun Part

You can typically stay down longer and get back the water sooner! No wonder many divers choose this as their very first speciality.

What You Learn

Using PADI's Enriched Air Diver eLearning online course you will gain all the dive theory you need to become an Enriched Air Diver, including:

  • Techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox
  • Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
  • Considerations for diving with enriched air, including managing oxygen exposure
  • How to analyse your scuba cylinder and how to set your dive computer

During the theory session you learn why diving with gas that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During the practical gas analysis and dive planning workshop sessions you will learn to manage oxygen exposure and plan enriched air dives with your personal dive computer. You will also practice analysing the oxygen content in your cylinder, and use effective cylinder markings to record your analysis.

The Enriched Air Diver course can be completed with or without dives - understanding the theory behind diving with enriched air and learning how to safely analyse your gas and plan your dives are the main skills when it comes to diving with enriched air. Of course, if you wish to add two enriched air experience dives to your course we would be happy to help, so simply choose the course option to suit you when booking:

Enriched Air Diver 'Dry' Course - Theory and land skills only, no dives. £150, including eLearning and eCard.

Enriched Air Diver 'Wet' Course - Theory, land skills and two enriched air experience dives. £250, including eLearning and eCard.

What Scuba Gear Will You Use?

Most modern scuba equipment and dive computers can be used with enriched air, but we can discuss with you if your gear meets manufacturer recommendations. Scuba cylinders must meet oxygen service standards, and these are available to use on the course if you don’t have your own. We have multiple oxygen analysers to use, so you will get experience with different models, preparing you for a variety of analysers you may come across at a dive centre or resort in the future.
