During the Primary Care course you will practice skills including Scene Assessment, Barrier Use, Primary Assessment, Rescue Breathing, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Serious Bleeding Management, Shock Management and Spinal Injury Management.

Secondary Care covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening or when local medical services are unavailable or delayed. You focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice. The Secondary Care skills include Injury Assessment, Illness Assessment, Bandaging and Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures.

• BLS - Basic Life Support, CPR and rescue breathing
• AED  - Automated External Defibrillator use
• Preventing and caring for shock
• Spinal injury management
• Use of barriers to reduce disease transmission risk
• Basic first aid and first aid kit considerations

There are no prerequisites to enrol in an Emergency First Response course. Anyone of any age can take part, and learn vital life saving skills!

Your Emergency First Response skills require refreshing every 24 months. If your certification has expired you can attend a refresher course to update your skills and make sure you are up to date with the latest information.
